Respond to Transactors and clients on underwriting requests for credit extensions for new and existing clients, and do annual reviews for complex securitized loan portfolios.
Conduct and review due diligence and prepare internal committee packages for approval, and follow through to obtain credit approvals from committee;
If required, work with loan / bond sale team members for the sale or syndication of the loans to other lenders and / or Bond Investors and with Rating Agencies.
Prepare monthly and/or quarterly reviews of existing borrowers in order to track compliance with various covenants or triggers as outlined in the Credit Agreement.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of bank products and services within Corporate Banking, Global Markets and the broader organization.
Be or become very familiar with bank credit and regulatory policies and practices, to ensure compliance with the above and satisfactory ratings from internal and external auditors.
Provide backup to other underwriting team members to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of underwriting to clients as needed. Recommend changes to process to achieve greater efficiency.
Potential to travel outside of home base to meet with internal and external clients, conduct due diligence on specific asset portfolios and participate in training opportunities.
Job Requirements
Bachelor Degree or above in Finance, Business Management; preferably with MBA
At least 7+ years of credit experience, of which minimum of 3 years in securitized loan underwriting or equivalent experience
Possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under tight deadlines, manage priorities, and complete assigned tasks with minimal management follow up
Excellent analytical and computer skills including the ability to quickly adopt new technology
Demonstrated track record and working knowledge of applying lending Underwriting Guidelines and preferably have some familiarity with the processes of Rating Agencies for securitized products
Ability to read, comprehend, and summarize legal documents collected in the due diligence process or produced by bank’s legal counsel
Working knowledge of the nuances of loan transactions under market standard syndication loan format will be weighted in favor of the successful candidate
Ability to travel (10-20% of time) on short notice necessary
